The One-Sheet

Nines Poster

At last. There’s a long blog post to be written about how this all came to be, but I’ll save it for a future edition.

As a photographer and graphic designer I really like the poster. It is a nice shot, even if a bit overexposed (intentionally I presume) and the typography works really well!

What’s up with the “grid” of small squares covering Ryan’s skin?

Wow that looks great, I am really looking forward to the movie. I think between the trailer and the poster you have really set the tone for what I am expecting from the film, but I don’t think it will have any problems living up to those expectations. Also, wasn’t it you that said “God, I hate what hath Se7en wraught?” in terms of inserting numbers into a title… I am just messing with you, I think it works great. Kudos

I think that’s just a compression issue. It looks like it was compressed as a jpeg and then maybe resized and compressed again, leaving strange artifacts.

    This one really rocks. Nice.

I like overexposed Pictures, and this one looks really classy.

    Thumbs up!

  5. Gia Milani

    Gorgeous poster!

  6. Garrett

Wow! That’s quite striking! I have no idea what the movie is about, even though I’m an avid reader of your site.

    Very, very cool.

  7. Jeff

    Love it.

For the record, I think Ryan Reynolds is hot. I love the whole “guy with glasses” thing in the trailer. Can’t wait to see the film.

  9. Calvin Tamás

wow! A good Movie poster. Nice photography, and I like the text. I didn’t like the text too much in the trailer, but here it works!

Great poster. Beautiful. Can’t say I love the tagline, though. If I hadn’t seent he movie I’d think it was about an emo serial killer based on that tagline.

The one sheet looks great. Got one question though (maybe I’m the only one and I’m missing something obvious): what is going on? My first guess was that he is tying off to inject some less-than-legal substance into a vein. Except that usually that done further up on the arm from where you are going to inject, not at the wrist. So what am I missing here?

Ryan looks hunkalicious in the shot.

He also does when his shirt is off in the movie, so good continuity there.

Well, I’d watch a movie about an emo serial killer. Even if just for the soundtrack. Nice poster. I’ve always wondered who picks the images that go up in posters. Haven’t lost sleep over it, but wondered now and again. Mostly just right now.

I’m not so enthousiast about the poster. It’s beautifull, sure, but it doesn’t tell me a story… I can’t see no link between the title and the picture.

The only thing I say when I see the picture is “wtf is he biting?”… it’s not that exciting. Well, that’s my point of view only… no offense here.

    Now that’s one good poster.

The typeface of the title felt a bit off in the trailer, but it fits very well here. Especially the colour scheme.

I wonder, are there plans for an one-sheet with Hope Davis’ face, or just this one with Ryan’s?

  17. Another John

I think it looks cool. Will this be the international poster, or do the local distributors dictate the look?

  18. John August

This is the international poster as well. In fact, it’s really the international poster that the domestic people licensed.

  19. Sarah

That picture would make a great vector image!

  20. Donovan

That’s a really beautiful poster. The bright green band is what does it for me. That and the texture of Ryan’s skin. He looks like a golden statue.

  21. Shell

If you watch the trailer closely at one point you’ll see that ryan snaps something in half and then somethign weird happens. I’m betting that it might be this green bracelet and that it is very important in all the 3 stories. Not sure how but looking forward to finding out!

  22. Shell

Just rewatched the trailer and it seems that all the characters seem to have a green bracelet on. Do you know whether we will be able to buy this poster? I really like it.

  23. rick

What’s with all the gushing? I’m happy for John too, but come on folks… it’s a picture of Van Wilder’s head. Let’s not go nuts here.

  24. Ross

Awesome Trailer. Unbelievably awesome poster…but without our beloved Melissa McCarthy a credit! Such a shame! Very nicely done. We gush from excitement! We’re gushers! Deal!
