Scriptnotes Three Page Challenge

On May 15, 2014, Craig Mazin and John August will be doing a live version of the Three Page Challenge at our Scriptnotes Summer Superhero Spectacular.

As always, we’ll be looking at three pages — and only three pages! — from listener-submitted scripts. We will provide some critique and comments on what we read.

If you’d like us to consider your three pages, here are some important caveats:

  • Three pages of screenplay or teleplay, folks. Anything longer will be deleted immediately.
  • A cover page is okay but not required. (It doesn’t count as one of your three pages.) It’s your choice whether you want to put your contact information on a cover page.
  • Don’t send in log lines, synopses or anything else.
  • PDFs or Fountain are both okay. No .fdx, please.
  • We need your real name.

Got it? Great. Let’s get to it.

Submitting to the Three Page Challenge

  • I am attaching this three page sample of my screenwriting knowing that it may be discussed on the Scriptnotes podcast, and that this sample could show up in full or in part online. I acknowledge that this isn’t a contest, sweepstakes or solicitation of employment. This is strictly for fun and education. John August and Craig Mazin might say mean things about my writing, but I won’t hold that against them, because after all, I volunteered for this. Most importantly, I won’t claim that they stole my idea or somesuch.
  • We will be picking entries specifically for registered attendees who will be there *in person.*
  • Most Three Page Challenges are open to everyone, but some may be exclusive to Premium members.
  • Examples: A grown son tries to sort fact from fiction in his dying father's epic tales of a fantastical Alabama...... This five-part series looks at the Chernobyl disaster and the Soviet attempt to cover it up.....To save his gym, an underachiever must lead ragtag squad of misfits to win an international dodgeball tournament.
  • Accepted file types: pdf, fountain, txt, Max. file size: 3 MB.
