Drive-by tagging

January 19, 2006 QandA

I got [tagged](http://www.redrighthand.net/2006/01/tag-is-more-than-just-norwegian-talk.html) to write up my answers to [Fun Joel’s scribosphere meme](http://funjoel.blogspot.com/2006/01/scribosphere-meme-begins.html) thing. So here goes.

__ONE (1) earliest film-related memory:__

I went to see [The Muppet Movie](http://imdb.com/title/tt0079588/) with my Mom. It was just the two of us, so my Dad and brother were gone somewhere. It might have been an Indian Guides camp-out, or my Grandfather’s funeral. “Why are there so many songs about rainbows, and what’s on the other side?”

The Muppet Movie is oddly meta if you go back and watch it as an adult. For instance, The Sunshine Band Electric Mayhem decides to join Kermit on his quest only because they pick up the script and read ahead.

__TWO (2) favorite lines from movies:__

“Get away from her, you bitch!”
– Ripley, [Aliens](http://imdb.com/title/tt0090605/combined?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9YWxpZW5zfGZ0PTF8bXg9MjB8bG09NTAwfGNvPTF8aHRtbD0xfG5tPTE_;fc=1;ft=67;fm=1) ([James Cameron](http://imdb.com/name/nm0000116/))

“Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.”
– Margo Channing, [All About Eve](http://imdb.com/title/tt0042192/combined?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9YWxsIGFib3V0IGV2ZXxmdD0xfG14PTIwfGxtPTUwMHxjbz0xfGh0bWw9MXxubT0x;fc=1;ft=20;fm=1) ([Joseph L. Mankiewicz](http://imdb.com/name/nm0000581/))

__THREE (3) jobs you’d do if you could not work in the “biz”:__

* Chef
* Graphic Designer
* Web Monkey

__FOUR (4) jobs you actually have held outside the industry:__

* Graphic Designer
* Bank Temp (I set off the silent alarm)
* Campus Tour Guide
* Handkerchief Ironer

__THREE (3) book authors you like:__

* David Sedaris
* Augusten Burroughs
* Steven Pinker

__TWO (2) movies you’d like to remake or properties you’d like to adapt:__

* Tarzan
* Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
* Charlie’s Angels
* A Wrinkle in Time
* Forbidden Planet
* Pride and Prejudice (as if we need another one)

__ONE (1) screenwriter you think is underrated:__

[Alejandro Amenábar](http://imdb.com/name/nm0024622/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnx0dD0xfGZiPXV8cG49MHxrdz0xfHE9YWxlamFuZHJvIGFtZW5hYmFyfGZ0PTF8bXg9MjB8bG09NTAwfGNvPTF8aHRtbD0xfG5tPTE_;fc=1;ft=21;fm=1).

__THREE (3) people I’m tagging to answer this meme next:__

[Josh Friedman](http://hucksblog.blogspot.com), [Craig Mazin](http://artfulwriter.com), and [American McGee](http://www.americanmcgee.com/wordpress/).
