While most WGA members have already taken a look at the results, other readers might be curious to see the results of the election, which were announced Friday afternoon.
John Wells was elected president. Tom Schulman, vice president. David N. Weiss, secretary-treasurer.
Nine candidates were elected to WGAW’s Board of Directors: Patric M. Verrone, Howard A. Rodman, Dan Wilcox, Linda Burstyn, Billy Ray, Steven Schwartz, Chip Johannessen, Carleton Eastlake, and Ian Deitchman. 1 The board is made up of members serving alternating two-year terms, so they’ll be joining eight members already seated.
Congratulations to all the candidates in one of the highest-voting elections in guild history.
In an earlier post, I had steered voters towards Wells, Rodman, Ray, Schwartz and Deitchman, so I was happy to see the five of them selected. I’m also relieved to see a diversity of opinions represented. I think an organization functions best with strong leadership building consensus among competing priorities. I think the combination of John Wells and this board should do that.
- Eastlake and Deitchman tied. By WGA rules, both will be seated. ↩
