An associate producer works as support staff for the film's primary producer, but has more responsibility than an assistant.  Typical responsibilities for an associate producer include coordination of casting sessions, deal memos for day players, the issuing of scheduling memos, and any other producing responsibility the primary producer wishes to delegate. In the Studio Era, an Associate Producer was described as "anyone who would associate with a producer."
