Writers Guild Award nominees

You can see the full list here, including all the TV nominations. Special kudos to picketing-mate Irene Turner, whose An American Crime got a nod in longform.

glad to see a “Videogame Nominees” section (although not yet released)…how long has the WGA given out awards for gaming?

Just finished Bioshock, and man oh man, what a world that team created.

  2. Redlum

I am really glad to see The Wrestler on the list.

Any idea what’s delayed the video-game nominations? Or if this separated timeline is standard for the WGA nominations?

    John,

I would love to hear any thoughts you have on Kaufman’s Synecdoche, New York. I haven’t been humbled by the writing of a film since… I don’t know when. I think it’s truly brilliant and I can’t wait to see it a third time. Wish it got wider distribution!

See, I stop by to read great insight on screenwriting, and I get namechecked.

    Procrastination is a virtue.

    You’ve proven it. (Thanks, John!)

PS The separated timeline is standard for WGA Awards. Gives categories other than the big features a little time in the sun.

Pretty hilarious that Greg Garcia titled one episode “Vote for This and I Promise to Do Something Crazy at the Emmys”.

Too bad it wasn’t a particularly good episode, if it ends up winning it would probably be just for the title.

    VERY COOL IRENE! :D

    Congratulations!!!

  8. Paula

    Congratulations Irene!

Let’s just hope that the writing (& directing & acting & editing & music & etc & etc) for the film version of BioShock is just as good as the game.

  10. Silvana Giacobini

Oh, look at the soaps, look at the soaps!

I can’t believe that Dear Zachary: A Letter to a son about his father was not nominated in the Documentary category. That was the best documentary I have seen in a long, long time.

For those who were curious, the video-game nominations are out in the wild now.
