The Nines quiz on Facebook

How awkward is this: I got a 93%. It’s full of spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the movie, you might want to bookmark this for later.

The Nines quiz

Based on the syntax, I think it’s made by a non-native speaker. And I’m still not clear what the final (and missed) question is referring to: the poster, “Crime Lab,” or something else.

Any idea which one you got wrong? I really hope it wasn’t question 13!

I thought I was getting a lot of them right when taking it, but it turns out that I only got 64% right….. Q14 was sneaky…. I got that wrong… And with Q8… I feel bad - I never actually noticed at all! (although I mis-read the answers and chose (c) when I actually meant (a))

Awkward. Maybe you just don’t fully appreciate your own artistic brilliance?

  3. Johnny says:

Flixter sucks, it keeps challenging my contacts without my doing so (yes, I hit skip, so the program is acting autonomically… skynet here we come).

  4. David H. says:

Haha. That’s awesome! And awkward… That’s great John.

  5. Hugh Macdonald says:

Johnny: There’s actually a tiny check-box at the bottom of the quiz itself that says “challenge all my friends”. If you forget to uncheck that, it will send it to absolutely everyone, even though it sends you to the next screen anyway.

I only saw the checkbox in the second that I had between clicking “OK” and the screen changing…

  6. rick says:

Don’t take it personally John. It’s an absolutely true story that Charlie Chaplin once came in second in a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest… his brother came in first.

  7. Brendan says:

The final question’s referring to the poster, methinks. Most of the promotional materials seem to have o&e replaced with a 9, which almost explains what they’re asking.

I got it right, but failed miserably at some other questions…

This site is run by screenwriter John August. Mostly, he answers reader-submitted questions about the craft, but occasionally he goes on tangents that run far afield of writing and filmmaking. You'll also find info on past, present and future projects.

If you have a question about screenwriting or my movies that hasn't been answered, by all means ask. There are a few guidelines to follow.
