Brad, I agree with everything you said! I'm really a big fan of his work and the fact that John from time to times emphasizes that he's an A-list writer destroys my whole picture of him. We know that, John, you don't have to repeat it in every post!

Mark P,
Normally I hate when celebrities feign a connection with fans simply to shill their movies, but in this case I believe JA deserves a pass. He obviously cares about connecting with his readers and introducing them to his life.

Given that he was the writer and first-time director of this film, which probably was a struggle to get greenlit in the first place, you can only imagine how much of that life has been devoted to the Nines over the last few years. For him to act like he does not care about its success would be insincere. So for me, the "agenda pushing" is merely an extension of that sincere relationship he has with his readership.

Yo John,

Congrats on the Saturn nomination. Hope "The Nines" gets picked.
Thanks also for the storyboards link - those are always cool to look at and helpful for us aspiring board artists out there.

Rock on.

I cannot wait for your next screenplay to get produced because you've really exaggerated this agenda pushing with The Nines. It's just plain boring, annoying and is hurting you in many ways.

Much congratulations, John. It's deserved... I finally got my copy earlier in the week and watched it, and was thoroughly entertained. Even after all the reading about the film here (assiduously avoiding spoilers the whole way through), I was actually surprised by the resolution. I can see the science-fiction classification, though: it sort of falls into the same vein as a lot of author Spider Robinson's early stories - set in a mundane, everyday setting (in his case, a bar), but with just enough of something going on to slide into the SF genre. (And in his case as well, you find out the SF connection towards the end of the first cycle.) It really works for The Nines, though, so great to hear of the nomination!

Great. Now, if the Virgin Megastore on Hollywood would stock it, I could go buy it.

@Scott from Australia:

I don't know what the criteria are for the category, but at least one of the other contenders (BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON) came out in theaters this year.
