The Nines screening schedule at Sundance

The good folks at Sundance just sent out the screening times and locations for The Nines. Their website doesn’t show the schedule yet, but I presume it will be up soon.

Sun. Jan 21, 9:30 pm
Eccles, Park City

Mon. Jan 22, 8:30 am
Prospector, Park City

Tue. Jan 23, 9:00 pm
Sundance Village

Sun. Jan 28, 3:30 pm
Rose Wagner, Salt Lake City

The first Sunday is the premiere, and by far the largest theater — the same place we premiered Go in 1999. That’s the place to be if you want to see John hyperventilate. The subsequent screenings are generally calmer and more intimate, though I don’t know how intimate I’ll feel like being at 8:30 in the morning with a hangover.

If I can recover from the Sunday night party, Monday’s my best shot!

I hope there will be a lot of people. And I hope “The Nines” will make it to Germany one day.

I never understood reps who take months to read a script. We’re all busy, but c’mon! Isn’t everybody looking for the next great script? I know there’s a lot of shit out there, but to find a gem you gotta get your fingers dirty.

If i were a rep (or producer for that matter) I’d read the first 5 pages of any spec that comes in asap. By page 5 the world and basic premise should be clear and you can tell whether a scribe can hook you or not. If the first 5 pages suck, put it on the pile. If they read promising, get your assistant to do overnight coverage. That way you don’t waste anybody’s time. A quick no is much more pleasant - and respectful - than months of hope slowly devoured by silence.

oops, the above post was meant to comment on the “When Should I Panic?” issue.

I can’t wait to see this at Sundance. Best of luck to you, John. I know it will be amazing!
