if I don’t get it all wrong the German movie trailer including the song text says this:

I’d be interested in John’s opinion on the translation on the rhyme in the trailer “Chewing gum is really gross, chewing gum I hate the most”.

Retranslated from the german trailer it’s: “Chewing gum is disgusting, chewing gum will be abolished” which rhymes greatly, but from the writers perspective is it a tolerable change from the original? I don’t know the story and it probably won’t make much of a difference, but I suppose it’s not the case that Willy abolishes chewing gum.

What I’m basically asking is, from the writers point of view , how much tolerance do you have for translations of your dialogue?
