Cheaper Charlie shirts
Reader “Bri” was thoughtful enough to point out that Hot Topic has started selling less-expensive Charlie and the Chocolate Factory t-shirts. They’re perfect for your your rebellious kid sister who wants to express her individuality in a completely conformist way.
The “Life Had Never Been Sweeter” shirt comes from a line of dialogue (narration, actually) in the movie, which comes out July 15th.
You can find the shirts here.

I don’t know why people would buy clothes BEFORE they see the movie…

are you getting a cut of the merchandise at all? Do writers usually partake in that sort of thing anyways?
June 7th, 2005 at 2:59 pm
I would imagine not (on the merch). It seems that artists (writers) have a hard enough time collecting DVD royalties. Let alone coin from the ubiquitous cups, action figures, T-Shirts, notebooks, toothbrush..well you get the idea.
I’m sure Dahl’s estate receives something.
John on a completely separate subject what are your feelings on the Apple/Intel announcement?

I was going to get one of those shirts the last time I was at Hot Topic, but it seems that store doesn’t realize that not all people Barbie-doll thin.
I think I may end up having to make my own shirt…
