How do I find out who represents a given actor?

I was wondering if it’s possible for you to tell me what agency Freddie Highmore is represented by.

–Jessi

No. And not only because your question was posted in the comments section of a random, unrelated topic.

However, I can tell you how to find out Freddie Highmore’s agent — or any actor’s agent. All film actors belong to some film acting union or guild — that’s how they get paid residuals when movies come out on video and television. In the U.S., that means SAG (Screen Actors Guild); the closest U.K. equivalent is probably Equity, but I trust an experienced U.K. reader will correct me if I’m wrong. For whichever guild, look up the phone number, call them, and ask for agent contact information. Voila.

The same basic process can be applied to directors or screenwriters.

Now for the more difficult question: why would you need to know who represents Freddie Highmore? Unless you’re calling to offer him gainful employment, an agent is not the one to help you. If you simply admire Highmore’s work — and why not, he’s a remarkable young actor — you’re much better off visiting a fan site where you can bond with others who feel likewise.

In a way that was slightly on-topic because, I guess Highmore at one point of making a movie, has to read the script. Hes not going to get far as a actor if he hasn’t.

    Other then that, thats it.

I always thought SAG was a British company, but I see their name in the credits of just about every film.

Well, thanks I guess. I don’t remember where I posted the question but at the time I didn’t think it was completely off topic.

Also, I do have a reason for contacting his agency.

Jessi - I agree with John. There is no real reason - other than entertaining your curiosity - for contacting an actor’s agent. Unless you are ready to cut a check they really aren’t going to pay much attention to you.

With that said, here are the cold facts on how to find who reps that actor or writer.

The Screen Actors Guild has every SAG member’s contact info. They will give you up to three people per phone call. Give them a call at their main switchboard (323) 954-1600. Tell them you’re trying to locate an actor. It’s that simple. I think they’ll transfer you to their Agency Department.

I’m curious about something. If you are looking for funding, wouldn’t it be beneficial to have actors agree to take roles as long as funding comes? or is that against some type of protocol?

This is related to this topic, becuase contacting their agent seems the only way to meet them and reach that type of agreement with them. Unless you plan on randomly bumping into them at the grocery store. Or is that not the way to go?

If you sign up for an IMDB Pro account you can find out every actors agent! It’s posted with a point of contact number! You also get the first two weeks free. Try that

Hi guys! ALL I want is an autographed photo of Freddie Highmore as my son, who is slightly mentally disabled, is a great fan, and that what he wants for his upcoming 9th birthday, next September. PLEASE if anyone knows, make his day. God Knows his start in life isn’t easy…

Anyone got a clue? As you all know, a MOTHER will stop at nothing that can make her little boy happy, and I’ve been scouring the Internet for a clue on how to get what Julien wants. Failure not an option.

    A frantic mother in Switzerland,

    Sophie
