Pearl Jam’s “Man of the Hour” in Big Fish

Pearl Jam has recorded a brand new song called “Man of the Hour” for BIG FISH, which will play over the end credits. I haven’t gotten a legitimate copy of it yet, though I just heard an acoustic version taken from one of their shows earlier this week. This was from a bootleg site that I’ll leave you to Google for yourself, and the recording quality was about what you’d expect for a tape recorder smuggled in the crotch of an obsessive fan’s baggy jeans.

That said, the song is really, really good: sad, hopeful and totally appropriate for the movie, without being too on-the-nose. What’s better, I didn’t even know the song was going into the movie until yesterday. So here’s to happy surprises.

The song is now available at a wide variety of legitimate places — such as iTunes music store, Amazon and normal record stores, both as a single and on the Big Fish soundtrack.

OK, BEING COMPLETELY HONEST HERE… WHEN I SAW THE MOVIE BIG FISH AND THIS SONG PLAYED, I CRIED LIKE A LITTLE BITCH… LIKE A 12 YR OLD LITTLE GIRL WHOSE FISH JUST DIED. SOBBING WAS INVOLVED. I WASLKED OUT OF THAT THEATER, HEAD HELD HIGH, FACE RED AND SPLOTCHY, TRYING TO CATCH A BREATH BETWEEN TEARS! AS SOON AS I GOT HOME, I HUGGED MY FATHER AND TOLD HIM I LOVED HIM. THANK YOU PEARL JAM, THANK YOU.

First: I´m Pearl Jam´s real BIG fan. Second: I´m a kind of screenwriting student, with to many ideas, but almost nothing of perseverance. Searching for info about Big Fish I found this site. It was a lucky coincidence. This movie is a great one. It´s difficult to thrill me in a movie theater, but this one achieved it. It went directly to my list of favorite movies ever. So, thanks all you guys who were involved in the process to create it. (sorry my bad english, i´m from a small coast country away in the south).

Once more Pearl Jam says it all! I have to confess that I never cried before by watching a movie since i saw Bambi… But with Big Fish I couldn´t help it besides it is a great movie “Man of the hour” is the fact that made me feel so much… i never heard the song again from the moment I saw the movie until now, and i couldn´t help to cry again… That all that I can say.
