Big Fish opens in more cities

Up until now, BIG FISH has only been playing in a total of six theaters in LA, New York and Toronto. On Christmas Day (tomorrow), the movie will expand to 25 cities, with about 125 theaters altogether. (For a point of reference, RETURN OF THE KING is now playing at 3,703 theaters.)

If BIG FISH doesn’t open near you on Christmas, have patience. It opens wide (more than 2,000 theaters) on January 9, 2004.

John, Your mom called me today to tell me of the exciting news about Big Fish. My book group read it a year or so ago, and now we can’t wait to see your movie! Congratulations! Wendy Hall

    John,

I went to see the movie here in Grapevine, TX today. What a pleasure!

I am newbie writer/director (one under my belt) and I am a very tough guy to please and a hard sell. I think this may have been one of the best films I have seen in a LONG time. I watched Danny DeVito as a guest on AMC’s “Shootout” this morning, and decided to go see it based on his remarks and then a view of the trailer via the internet.

The actors were ALL excellent, from Ewan to Albert to Billy to Steve and Helena and Danny. LOts of twists of course, as the storytelling technique should allow. I must also admit, I did not guess the ending, and for me, you gotta’ be good to surprise me. This may be Tim Burton’s best effort to date. I loved his symbolism and attention to details. (The clown suit once held a revolver with a silver bullet, and at the end, holds the French poodle).

I am downloading your screenplay (thank you for that generous offer) and look forward to reading it soon.

Keep up the great work. I hope H’wood sits up and takes notice of your great effort and that it deserves recognition.

    Best of luck.

    Randy

Hey man, love your work to start out. I really, really want to see Big Fish! I almost drove 2 and a half hours to go see it the other day, but I didn’t have the gas money, which stinks. I can’t wait to see the movie, looks fantastic!
