Big Fish gets four Golden Globe nominations

On Wednesday at about 5:36 a.m. Pacific Time, we found out that BIG FISH received four Golden Globe nominations: Best Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Supporting Actor (Albert Finney), Best Song (Pearl Jam’s “Man of the Hour”) and Best Score (Danny Elfman). We were happy. Sony was happy. The marketing people were delighted: by that evening, they’d already cut a new :30 second TV spot that trumpeted our nominations. God Bless those busy folks.

Is Big Fish a comedy? Ultimately, it was up to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — the people who run the Golden Globes — to decide what category to put us in. It’s certainly not a comedy in the way CADDYSHACK is. But for the most part, it’s pretty funny. And it’s definitely not high drama. It gets emotional at the end, but even if you’re crying, it’s a strange kind of happy tears. So I think the “comedy” label fits as well as any other.

The awards broadcast is live on NBC: Sunday, January 25, 2004. 8.00 p.m. Eastern/5:00 p.m. Pacific.

My 14 year old daughter was intrigued by the “Big Fish” commercial, and begged to see it. I had no desire to sit through a movie about a father dying, having lived the experience. Ultimately, I decided to go.

I will never have an experience like I did watching this film. It was the most incredible movie I have ever seen, and, the writing was just outstanding. My daughter felt the same way. That is saying a lot coming from a teenager.

Thank you for your brilliance. It will touch me forever.

I knew very little about this film when I walked into the theater last evening. Without a doubt this is one of the most incredible films I have ever seen. Amazingly well told story and the casting was perfect. You MUST see this film.

I am the type of person who cannot stand to re-watch a film once it’s out on dvd or video again…for the first time ever, I can say that this film I wouldn’t mind replaying over and over again. That’s how good it truly is! It was amazingly refreshing and a heartfelt production that drives to the stake of it all at the end. Superb job! A definite MUST SEE!!!

does anyone know the song in the preview for the movie.. i love it so much and i just cant seem to find it..

The “Take a straight and stronger course to the corner of your life” song in the preview is “Your Move/I’ve Seen All Good People” by Yes. It’s a very long song, and the part in the trailer is 2:50 into it.

It’s available on iTunes, by the way.
